The AGM followed by next Fly Tying Night will take place on Thursday 13th February 2025 at 6:30pm at the Tower Bar, Craigshill.

Fly tying will be after the meeting has concluded. Our fly tying evening will now be held every month on the second Thursday (as before) at the tower bar. As we now have a sponsor for the evenings they can remain free of charge. Frank McAlister has given the club a discount for our evenings and I know how much of a step up you guys will see in our new location. A massive thanks to our sponsor who I will reveal at a later date. If there is enough interest in the agm evening and subsequent tying nights Frank has offered to open the bar for us. Another step in the right direction guys

FANTASTIC NEWS! We have secured a sponsor for the fly tying nights. We also have a specialist to do our website and social media (this is good as I am not great at technology 🤣). A new venue has been secured for the tying night. Ticket sales are going well and genuine progress is being made. The fishing community has responded! Further details will follow. Let me assure you that we are working hard and the future of the WLAA is looking very bright

Hi everyone welcome to the new WLAA website. My name is Fraser Thomson and I am acting as interim chairman of the club for the time being. This is due to the removal of the previous chairman. There is an ongoing police investigation into the circumstances regarding the previous management of the club. As this is a live investigation I can’t discuss this matter further.

The next few months are going to be testing times for us and our river. Scott Muir and Gordon Redmond will be crucial to helping me steady the ship. We will be working closely with our friends at the Forth Rivers Trust and Jonathan has agreed to waive the trusts fee for selling our permits. I thank him personally for this generous gesture.

Please only buy your ticket from the fish around the forth website or by clicking the button at the top of the page. DO NOT USE THE CLUBS WEBSITE OR PAYPAL OPTION!.

Meetings are scheduled this week and I will keep you informed of any progress.
Even though the club finds itself in a bad situation I am very positive and I know that we will turn it around. Plans are afoot for exciting fundraising opportunities and I will use all of my contacts and experience to make these events successful.

I am very proud to be the chairman and I will seek to be properly elected into the role at our next agm. Anyone who knows me will know of my love for the River Almond and my local community. I hope that we can count on your continued support. Onwards and upwards.
